Yesterday we had our grandparentsday with Beau and Jan. . Beau received her winterclothes that her mother had ordered for her and inspite of the warmth she had to put them on. Kate Church puppetry

Lovely work inspired by Cirque du Soleil

An artist of delicacy and detail Kate's work mirrors the varied experiences of life in her offbeat quirky method of recognition. Details embroidered with movement and grace, her figures speak of curiosity, delight, tenderness and humor... expressions of some of the exquisitely charming characteristics of life. The pieces she builds somehow defy conventional interpretation. They are not dolls, nor are they formal sculptures. Kate refers to her work as "sculptural puppetry", combining the line and form of sculpture with the playful anima of puppetry.

Denmark

Long time ago I wrote on my blog. It.s was a very busy time for me but the last two weeks me and me partner spend a holiday in Denmark on the Island Langeland. It were two wonderfull weeks in which we walked, bycked and enjoyed the wonderfull natur. On our way to our holidayhouse we drove through Germany and took the ferry from Puttgarden to Rodby in Denmark. From there we drove to Tars and again took a ferry to Spodsberg. And from there we were amazed of the beauty of our place to be for the coming two weeks. At first we had to get the keys from the Novasol Agency in Rudkobing. Very nice people wo helped us there. We were one hour to early for the key so we spend this time to walk through Rudkobing.

On our tour through Rudkoning we found this lovely shop.
Website: www.galleri-lang-sommer.dk
The lady inside gave me also an adress: http://www.filtning.dk were you can find the most lovely creatures made of felt.

The website for the paintings I adore from Susanne Strange: http://www.susanne-strange.com.

When I was home and look at this internetadresses myself I found out that the lady in the shop who helped me was Susanne Strange herself. Susanne again my compliments for the lovely paintings and also the other stuff.

Kasteel Vaeshartelt.

Today I started a new painting. It.s not finished yet, but there is a beginning again. I love paintings the eyes. That.s when a portrait starts living for me. Now the paint has to dry a bit and then I can work on it again. Is.t she adorable. It breaks your heart to know that she is an orphan. And there are so many of them.
Children without a future. Next year I hope to be able to paint a lot of portraits and then organize an exhibition. Then I hope to sell a lot of my paintings and a part of the money I will donate to an organization who can help to give these children hope and a better future.

Our house

Corner of our little garden.

Can you imagine how this will look at Christmas. I cann.t wait till we can decorate this. In our room with have two of this.

The party of Saint Nicolas

Today Beau is going to THE party of the year. The big party of Saint Nicolas. She was so excited. She is gone ask him if her grandmother can recieve a choclat letter. I have to put my shoe by the chimney and sing some songs. Ofcourse I know a lot of them. I will do this evening. The fifth of december we will have our party at my daughters place. So now we have to buy little gifts, create some poems with it and make some surpriseboxes. With children this is so lovely.

18-11-07

Tableware and how you can also use it.......

On a show a couple of weeks ago I found this great creative stuff. Birds made of spoons, knives and forks. Can you believe it. The picture is not so well made, but you get an idea what this creative person did with it.

Saint Nicolas and Christmas

The Christmasfeeling has started late this year for me. For several years my sister and I made christmas ornaments and dolls and then before Christmas we joined a Christmasfair somewhere to sell our stuff. It was.nt always easy, for we live not so close to each other. Internet connected us. What are you making now? And then hup a photo with MSN. This year we didn.t create together att all. I really miss it. The first Christmasvisits has planned now and now I can look through all (many) cookingbooks. I love that. Sitting on the couch with all my books, hot chocolate and a little cream on top. I love it when people come over to my house. I.m so blessed with a lovely partner. He enjoyes Christmas also. But at first there is Saint Nicolaas at the fifth of december this nice, very old, men has his birthday. In Holland the children receive then present instead of given them to him ( like Christmas). Together with his helpers he rides on his white horse with black spots and brings the present in the night. I love this time when children are small. Yeasterday he came through our street. We live near the harbour and he comes by boat from spain. A steamboat. As soon as he has arrived in Holland the children can put one of their shoes at the chimney. With an apple for the horse and a drawing and wishlist for the Saint Nicolaas. I love this time of winter, especially now when I have my granddaughter who still really believes in Saint Nicolaas.

Looking for pictures I found this picture of my granddaughter 3 years ago. We went to a Dutch museum called Zuiderzeemuseum. Children can dress in original dutch clothes and play with old toys. It.s really worth visiting.

Painting...... my passion

One year ago I didn.t know I would ever like or could paint. Now I.m addicted to it. It.s my passion.

Still have to learn a lot abouth mixing colours and other techniques. Now I know that I like painting portraits the most. For I have a job for 5 days a week, painting I have to do in my spare time. My partner is so sweet, never complains when I.m sitting in my room and paint, he brings me coffee, makes dinner and stimulates me to keep on painting. He is the best.

Chevrolet (CHEVY) 1953

Next project: Finishing my painting of a Chevrolet 1953

I never went to Cuba, but since internet I can imagine how that country looks like. Especially I love the pictures with the old Cuban taxi.s. How in the world were they able to collect all these beautifull old memories of cars. But I love them for the way they still caring for these cars.
Otherwise all those cars have.nt been excisting anymore. This painting of a Chevrolet of 1953 I started half a year ago. I did not paint the last 6 months, but now, after my surgery, I started again and yes, I still love it. Backgrounds are not my piece of cake, but I have to praxis over and over again to also enjoy painting backgrounds. There is still so much to learn. But these lessons I like, it only costs time.

Old toys

This cute toy was found back in a box at the attic. He now has his own place in my room, so I can watch it every day. It must be fifty years old. Just love the piece.

TheaterFigurenMuseum Luebeck Germany

Last year we visited Theatre Figuren Museum in Luebeck Germany by accident. We didn.t know it acsisted till we passed by. The history of the TheaterFigurenMuseum Luebeck is closely connected to the biographies of their owners: Fritz and Saraswathi Fey. Without them this extraordinary museum would never have existed. As a cameraman Fritz travelled around the world, and wherever he had a minute to spare he indulged in his hobby: He collected theatre puppets wherever he could get them enthralled by their manifold uses and their varying expressiveness in different theatre traditions. His collection grew year by year, about 90 p. c. of what he has collected is still waiting to be revealed to the public. Fritz and Saraswathi gives you the feeling to be on a familyvisit and do take time to tell you abouth all the figures. I love to visit this theatre museum again.

Oilpainting made by my mother Aty Stey-Taanman

Christmas Greetings from the Animal World

Somebody mentioned sausage,
’ Twas a cruel thing to do,
Just when we're gay and festive,
And wishing to sing to you;
They might have talked of turkey
Of pudding or goose or pie,
- No matter ! We'll sing to cheer us:-
“Wail 'till the clouds roll by.”

I really love these piggies I found at:
The Scrapalbum from Malcolm Warrington.

A beautiful site which looks at the albums, greeting cards and printed ephemera that became popular during the Victorian period. This unusual resource provides a wonderful insight into the customs and the times. Also a lot of lovely links to other sites and Ephemera Events, News & Exhibitions.

"Thanks Malcolm, for your quick response"

My own Fernando Botero diary

A few years ago I was given a diary with paintings of Fernando Botero. Today, I like the paintings even more.

17-08-07

Fernando Botero

Last year me and my partner had a holiday in Germany. The first week we stayed in Goslar, a very beautifull old town in the area Harz. Walking through the streets of Goslar we suddenly stood for two lovely statues. Because I love the paintings and sculptures of Fernando Botero I knew at the same time that these two sculptures belonged to Botero.
It made my day.

Botero, born as the son of a Colombian travelling salesman was trained as a matador from the age of twelve. The bullfighting ring was his inspiration to his early drawings. After his study in Madrid at the Academia San Fernando and the Prado-Museum Botero went to Italy where he began studying art history in Florence in 1953. Two years later he returned to Columbia , moved to Mexico in 1956 and settled in New York in 1960. Here he was awarded the Guggenheim National Prize for Columbia. Botero's very refined paintings show grotesquely fat beings, monsters, unable to move, with gigantic heads, which represent the degenerate colonial bourgeoisie in his country. He developed a naïve, almost child-like figurative style in the 1950s, which is associated with the New York Pop-Art. Botero's highly valued works are technically perfect and have pale colours. He lives and works in New York and Paris.

For some years I received the most lovely present in years from my dear sister Marjon. The book Figures from Commedia dell.Arte translated into Dutch from an original titled book Maschere della Commedia dell árte by Gianfresco Malipiero. In this book discriptions of the masked figures. But the most intresting at this books are his reproductions of drawings of Maurice Sand.
